Rescue crews responded to a head-on wrong-way crash in Carefree on Thursday night.
According to Rural Metro fire officials, crews are on the scene of a head-on collision involving a wrong-way vehicle at Cave Creek and Pima roads. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m.
Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said a woman was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes along Cave Creek Road when she collided head-on with another car. Both drivers were taken to an area hospital.
Officials said the injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Impairment appears to be a factor in the crash, MCSO said. Deputies are investigating.
