NEW RIVER, AZ — Daisy Mountain firefighters were able to gain quick control of a first-alarm brush fire burning near New River Sunday night.

The blaze broke out around 7 p.m. in a rural area near 3rd Avenue and Calvary.

Fire officials say the fire started in an area with very dry brush. Around 8:30 p.m., fire crews tweeted they had fire under control and are working to mop up hot spots.

Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to three structures nearby, said Daisy Mountain Fire Department spokesman Brent Fenton.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
