FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ — An intoxicated Fountain Hills mother was arrested Sunday after she was caught with drugs and alcohol, walking with her two kids outside.

Police say they received several calls about a woman walking with two young children, staggering and falling, amid 110-degree heat.

Officers made contact with the woman, identified as Brittany Meinke, 27, and said she was with her 2-year-old and 4-year-old children.

Police say the 4-year-old was carrying a plastic pencil box that had marijuana substances inside. He was not wearing socks, shoes or a shirt.

The 2-year-old was wearing long-sleeved pajamas and had a soiled diaper.

The 4-year-old told police he was “hungry, thirsty, hot and said he was walking outside all day,” according to records.

Meinke admitted to drinking alcohol and had two bottles of alcohol with her. She did not have any food or water for the children.

She was arrested and jailed on charges of endangerment, child abuse and three drug-related offenses.
