The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified the woman allegedly responsible for a wrong-way crash on State Route 87.
According to DPS, 46-year-old Barbara McLaughlin of Phoenix was booked into jail for aggravated assault and criminal damage.
DPS said Trooper Pedro Rodriguez intentionally crashed into the driver as she was traveling on SR 87 just north of Bush Highway.
Both Rodriguez and McLaughlin suffered minor injuries.
Friday, her nephew reached out to ABC15, saying people were rushing to judgment about his aunt.
"The cop was right for what he did, my aunt was wrong," Shane McLaughlin said. "She has severe medical issues and is dying slowly. She's not what people are making her out to be."
Troopers believe impairment may have been a factor in the case.
