Paradise Valley officers attempting to give an intoxicated man a ride home were reportedly assaulted Saturday night.
According to the police department, a taxi company called police stating that the suspect, Patrick Cyr, did not want to pay cab fare.
Police met them at the Paradise Valley Doubletree Resort where Cyr told officers that he did not have enough money for the cab. As a courtesy and to keep him safe, officers chose to give Cyr a ride home.
On the way to the destination, police say Cyr broke through the plexiglass between the front and back seats of the patrol car and started grabbing and ripping the officer's uniform.
An officer behind the car transporting Cyr pulled over and was able to help stop the struggle. After that, Cyr was put in handcuffs and instead taken to the police station.
Police say Cyr continued kicking and kneeing officers as they tried to book him into the 4th Avenue Jail. He was eventually booked on charges of assault on a police officer, criminal damage and resisting arrest.
