A Valley couple is sharing their story of how their baby boy was born at The Phoenician resort last week.
Yelixa Pena and Eduardo Brizuela were driving to a Scottsdale hospital on May 18.
"The contractions got really hard, really quickly, and I just felt the need to push," Pena said.
Brizuela called 911, and the dispatcher told him to pull over. The closest place was The Phoenician resort.
"Never in 100 years did we think we were going to have the baby in the back of the car," Brizuela said.
Scottsdale firefighters arrived in time to deliver the baby, named David. The couple and baby reunited with the firefighters who helped them Friday.
"Mom does all the work," firefighter Jason Moag said. "You are just there to make sure it's as safe and clean and healthy as it can be."
The Phoenician gave the family gifts for the baby's arrival. The resort is inviting them back for David's first birthday.
