A West Virginia University football player was arrested New Year's Day in Scottsdale.

According to Scottsdale police, Daejuan Funderburk was booked into jail for disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, public sexual indecency and assault with intent to injure, all misdemeanors.

Funderburk was in town for the Cactus Bowl against Arizona State and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel off Double Tree Road.

A hotel employee told Scottsdale police that while attempting to clean the athlete's room, Funderburk became aggressive, touched the employee inappropriately, and pulled his pants down to expose himself, according to Kevin Watts, Scottsdale police public information officer.

Funderburk, #26, is a safety for WVU, according to the team's online website. He was redshirted in 2014. In high school, he was ranked as the fourth-best safety in Washington, D.C.

West Virginia University issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"Daejuan Funderburk is no longer a part of our football program, so we'll have no comment on the matter."

The Sun Devils lost the Cactus Bowl 42-43 against WVU on Jan. 2.
