The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a suspect was shot and killed after a pursuit along Valley freeways overnight.
According to DPS, the pursuit began after troopers attempted a traffic stop on I-10 near Elliot Road.
The suspect vehicle reportedly hit speeds of up to 100 miles per hour while fleeing troopers on the I-10, the US-60 and the Loop 101.
A trooper was able to deploy stop sticks on the Loop 101 near 64th Street, but the suspect tried to hit the trooper. The trooper was not hit but suffered ankle injuries while fleeing from the driver.
When the suspect approached 56th Street, he hit several DPS cars before getting out of the vehicle.
One of the troopers reportedly saw the suspect pull out a gun, and the trooper fired several shots.
Despite life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS has not released the suspect's identity.
