Staying cool in the Arizona summer comes with a cost. As the temperatures rise, so does the electricity bill as the air-conditioning unit works overtime.

However, there is an event on Thursday night that may give your A/C a bit of a break while slicing the cost nearly by half.

The City of Scottsdale's Green Building Program offering a free program to educate residents about ductless mini-split cooling technology.

"It's just now becoming prominent as people learn more and more about it," said speaker and industry expert Jim Clark.

The technology focuses on cooling individual rooms instead of the whole house.

"It's a very green product," Clark explained. "But, it's also something that's economical for the average person."

Clark said adding in a system like this one could cut cooling costs by up to 40 percent.

Clark is going to be educating residents at that event from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Granite Reef Senior Center at 1700 N. Granite Reef Road in Scottsdale.

There is no need to RSVP.
