SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A celebrity makeup artist from Scottsdale triggered a new trend thanks to a new CDC recommendation.
Mary Beth York is making a fashion statement with face masks.
When the CDC issued its face mask recommendation for everyone who leaves home, she was already working on her Survival of the Prettiest Quarantine Kit.
"Salons, spas and makeup counters are closed right now. Even if we're stuck at home, women want to feel pretty. Plus I had clients searching for gifts to give friends who are nurses," she told ABC15.
When one of her friends mentioned tossing cute face masks into the kits, she went to work using animal prints, hot pink and bling.
Now, she says, social media shares keep the orders coming in!
"I was just shocked when I saw how fast they sold," York said. "I can't even keep up with the orders of the masks alone. I go from Facebook to Instagram to my web orders to my phone...and they just roll in non-stop."
She also said, with so much uncertainty right now, she's not making light of COVID-19, she just hopes to give more people a reason to smile.
