SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Several streets were closed down in Scottsdale while police investigated a suspicious package left at a Jehovah's Witness house of worship on Thursday night.
According to Scottsdale police, the suspicious package, a backpack, was left at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses near Hayden and Thomas roads. Police said an unknown man reportedly left the backpack and fled the area.
Thomas Road was closed down from 82nd Street to Granite Reef Road during the ordeal.
Officials evacuated the site and destroyed the backpack using hazardous/explosives procedures. No hazardous materials or criminal items were found inside the backpack.
The scene has been released to church officials and the investigation is ongoing.
