SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Scottsdale police are investigating a threat at Mountainside Middle School.
A threat of violence was reportedly found in one of the girl's bathrooms Friday morning.
Police say additional school resource officers have been assigned to the campus to assist with the investigation.
School officials sent a letter to parents to inform them of the police presence and investigation at the school:
"Dear Mountainside Parents and Guardians,
This is to inform you that school administration is investigating a written threat that was found on a wall in one of the girl's restrooms earlier this morning. The graffiti warns of a school shooting later this afternoon. We are working with law enforcement to determine if there is any potential validity to this threat, but in the meantime, you may see an increase in police presence while we work through this issue. Parents have the option to come and sign out your child, but classes will continue as normal under increased supervision.
If you have any questions, please call the Mountainside front office at 480.484.5500."
Mountainside Middle School is located near 124th Street and E. Via Linda.
