Nearly two weeks after a dog was ejected from a crashed car in northern Arizona, there's finally a happy ending.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the crash occurred on Interstate 17 near Stoneman Lake on March 12. During the crash, a dog named Dozer was thrown from the vehicle.

DPS says troopers spent hours looking for the dog after the crash, even on their lunch breaks, and received reports about sightings days later. Despite their hard work, they were unable to find Dozer.

Officials eventually reached out to Central Arizona Animal Search and Rescue for help and, after setting a trap, they successfully captured Dozer on Monday.

“Dozer was thin and exhausted but did not have any major injuries and was in good spirits,” DPS officials said.

Dozer was returned to his owner by one of the volunteers and a trooper who spent a lot of time searching for him.
