A two-year-old boy was killed after he was struck by a pickup truck in Valle on Saturday morning.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, just after 11:15 a.m., deputies responded to a home in Valle, which is 25 miles north of Williams, for a report of a child who had been struck by a truck.

The father had reportedly told deputies the boy was struck by the neighbor's vehicle.

The child was pronounced dead at the Valle Airport by responding emergency air personnel.

Officials say a neighbor had been helping the family haul water; the child was reportedly struck by the truck when it was being backed up to connect to a water trailer.

The incident remains under investigation, officials said.
