A man charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault for the 2015 shootings that left one Northern Arizona University student dead and three others wounded is on the witness stand.

Steven Jones was called to testify Thursday afternoon in his trial, which is now in its third week.

The 20-year-old Jones is accused of killing Colin Brough near the university's Flagstaff campus in October 2015 and wounding three others.

Kyle Zientek and Nick Prato were both shot in the October 2015 incident. They took the stand Wednesday.

Zientek says he tried to run away moments before he was shot twice in the back.

Prato says he went to hold the man who died -- Colin Brough -- moments after the fatal shooting when he looked up and made eye contact with Jones.

Jones has pleaded not guilty and claims he fired in self-defense.
