Ex-NAU athlete sentenced in 2001 campus assault

A former Northern Arizona University football player already serving a 40-year sentence for rape will remain in prison longer for a separate sexual assault.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that a Coconino County Superior Court judge added four years to 36-year-old Pisa Magele's sentence on Friday.

Magele's sentence was part of a plea agreement.

Magele was indicted last year on two counts of sexual assault after DNA evidence linked him to an NAU student's attack in October 2001.

He is already in prison for a December 2001 campus rape.

The victim was not at the sentencing but submitted a letter saying how the attack had affected her.

Magele apologized to the victim but says he still doesn't remember anything about the night of the incident.
