Police in Flagstaff say a young boy is dead after being accidently struck by a truck his dad was driving.
The Flagstaff Police/Coconino County Sheriff 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call before 10 a.m. Thursday from a distraught man driving his 2-year-old son to the hospital.
The man told authorities that the child had been struck by his vehicle as he was leaving his driveway.
Police located the vehicle and escorted it to the Flagstaff Medical Center, but they say the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The man told police that he was unaware the child had followed him outside and wasn't able to see the child over the hood of his vehicle.
The county Medical Examiner's Office and Sheriff's Office are investigating the accident.
