A man was rescued and taken to the hospital after falling about 20 feet while climbing at Oak Creek Vista near Flagstaff.
The incident happened Monday around 1:15 p.m. at the popular hiking and climbing location south of Flagstaff along 89A.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says the 57-year-old man was at the end of a rappel while climbing and fell the last 20 feet injuring his back.
A search and rescue team had to use a rope system and basket to rescue the man because of his location.
The patient was transported to a Flagstaff hospital for his injuries. The extent of his injuries were not immediately available.
