Authorities say a man who was crawling across the road in Flagstaff is dead after he was struck by a vehicle.
Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, police were called to a crash involving a pedestrian near Route 66 near Switzer Canyon Drive.
Witnesses at the scene told officers that the man was on his hands and knees crossing the road and multiple cars "narrowly" missed hitting him before another car was unable to avoid it and struck him while he was in the roadway, officials said.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after. His name has not been released.
The driver does not appear to have been impaired but an investigation is ongoing. There's no word as to why the man was crawling in the road.
