The Northern Arizona University police department is warning students after receiving reports of individuals posing at campus maintenance workers and attempting to access student's dorm rooms.

NAU police posted the warning on their Facebook page as part of "National Campus Safety Awareness Month."

According to the post, NAU police said it received two reports since the beginning of the school year.

In both reports, according to the post, police said the students "did the proper thing" by questioning why the individuals were trying to get into the room, what needed to be repaired and asked them to prove they worked for the university.

NAU police said its maintenance employees usually wear shirts with the NAU or ACC logo on it and must display his or her badge "if there is any doubt."
