Lake Havasu City police say an officer was forced to shoot a dog after a suspect ordered the animal to attack him.
The Today's News-Herald reports that 38-year-old Derek Baxter is being held in the Mohave County jail on multiple felony charges including aggravated assault on a police officer.
Officers were called to an apartment Thursday for a domestic violence incident.
Baxter allegedly struck a female and a 10-year-old child.
Responding officers say Baxter pushed officers to resist arrest and continued doing so after getting Tasered twice.
Police say that's when Baxter yelled at his pit bull to attack.
An officer fatally shot the dog after it bit him in the wrist and leg.
That officer is still recovering.
Two other officers suffered minor injuries during the arrest.
