Schools are on lockout and officers are stationed in a Winslow neighborhood as police deal with an "active armed suspect" in the area.

According to Navajo County Emergency Management, residents are urged to avoid the area near Mahoney Street and Campbell Avenue due to a "critical police incident."

The Winslow Unified School District also confirms all schools are on "lockout", with classes proceeding as normal, but no one allowed in or out.

According to a Facebook post from the district, there was "an incident in the city limits" and they are keeping schools on lockout "on behalf of student and staff's safety."

Video from a Winslow resident showed officers in tactical gear at the scene.

A Department of Public Safety spokesperson told ABC15 they are assisting Winslow police in the incident.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is available.
