Blue Ridge Unified School District in the Lakeside area is closed after a threat toward schools on Monday.

According to the district’s website, officials were notified about a threat of violence around 8:30 Monday morning.

All schools were placed on lockdown and remained on soft-lockdown for the rest of the day. Police provided extra patrols as kids were released from class Monday afternoon.

School officials said one suspect is in police custody, but they believe others were involved.

“As a precautionary measure, school will dismiss today on schedule, but will not resume until law enforcement has apprehended all subjects involved, and it is believed safe to resume normal school operations,” the district said online on Monday.

Parents and students should keep an eye out for updates from police and school officials for updates.
