The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said a 29-year-old California man was killed Tuesday while Wingsuit flying near the Arizona-Utah border.
The man's body, identified as Mathew Kenney, of Santa Cruz, California, was found within the canyon walls of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, 15 miles north of Lee's Ferry, according to a CCSO media release posted on Wednesday.
The man was reportedly flying with friends.
CCSO technical rescue crews and an Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter attempted to recover the body on Tuesday, but could not due to the "steep terrain and ice conditions" on the canyon walls, according to the release.
They are now working with other agencies to develop a plan to recover the body.
