School employee stabbed in Parker, Ariz.; arrest made

Officials in Parker, Ariz. have made an arrest after the stabbing of a high school employee on Tuesday.

According to Parker Police Department, the incident occurred at Parker High School around 6:40 p.m. Parker police, La Paz County Sheriff's officials and Colorado River Indian Tribes police responded to the stabbing. 

The employee, identified as Maria Salcedo, had reportedly been stabbed several times in the neck and was taken to the hospital, and later flown to Lake Havasu for more treatment. She is currently in stable condition. 

Police say the suspect was described as a white male around 16 years old and 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build. He had dark hair and grey eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored, short-sleeved Parker High School shirt. 

Surveillance video showed someone matching the description leaving the school through an open gate. Police are working to determine if any other security cameras nearby may have captured footage of the suspect.

According to an update from Parker Police on Friday morning, CRIT police arrested a juvenile in connection with the incident late Thursday night. The crime is still under investigation.
