A propane tanker overturned in a highway intersection in Payson, snarling traffic and resulting in evacuation of nearby businesses in the Arizona mountain town.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Rasmussen says no injuries were reported and that the tanker was full but not leaking.

Rasmussen says other trucks offloaded the propane and that wreckers then removed the tanker from the intersection of State Routes 87 and 260.

Rasmussen says the tanker reportedly was making a normal turn in the intersection Friday morning when it went over onto one side.

The intersection was closed for several hours but reopened just before 4 p.m.

Phoenix's fire department sent a hazardous response team to assist.

Payson is 70 miles northeast of Phoenix.
