PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — Animal Control Officers (ACOs) rescued a neglected potbelly pig from a home in Prescott Valley.

Police say their ACOs stepped in just in time to recover a very obese potbelly pig named Petunia. The pig was discovered after ACOs were called to investigate a loose dog who ran home, the same home as Petunia.

Petunia was in desperate need of medical attention after being in a poor living environment. Petunia’s owners were given five days to rehome the neglected pig.

She was then surrendered and rehomed to a nearby pig rescue named Pearl’s Piggy Rescue in Chino Valley.

Officials say potbelly pigs are illegal within Town limits.

Petunia is now happy and almost healthy. She is being treated for medical issues and has been placed on a diet.
