The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says a man who was initially reported as missing after he was last seen on a Sedona hiking trail has since been located.

It was reported that 60-year-old David Lighthall was last seen Wednesday near the Brins Mesa Trail/Soldier’s Pass Trail Junction around 10 a.m.

Lighthall had not been heard from for several hours and officials worried because he does not have friends or family in the Sedona area.

CCSO received tips from other hikers in the area that Lighthall was seen on Sterling Pass Trail and in need of assistance, a CCSO spokeswoman said.

A helicopter was used to located Lighthall and he was taken to Slide Rock State Park where he is undergoing a medical evaluation, CCSO said.

No additional information was immediately available.
