Northbound Interstate 17 in northern Arizona north of Sedona has reopened after it was shut down by hazardous conditions resulting from a winter storm.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said around 10 a.m. Wednesday that the closure at State Route 179, the turnoff to Sedona, had been lifted.

The department says the closure was because of heavy snowfall and icy conditions.

Southbound lanes of I-17 in the area were not affected.

The National Weather Service says nearly 10 inches of snow have fallen in Flagstaff overnight.

Prescott and Sedona have received roughly between 2 and 4 inches.
