On Sunday, Yavapai deputies responded to a call about a burglary in process in the village of Oak Creek.
Upon arrival, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies detained 39-year-old James Woods who was discovered when the residents returned to their home in the area of Sacred Eagle Lane and Upper Red Rock Loop Road.
The residents had been away for several days and came home to find Woods on their property.
He was found removing furniture from the guest house. Officials said Woods moved the furniture around because it didn't suit his taste.
YCSO said Woods ate food, took drinks and opened a package that was delivered to the home, which contained an $1,800 check.
The man was also in possession of house keys, which he found hidden somewhere on the property.
YCSO believes the man had occupied the house since September 23rd.
Deputies said they are investigating another burglary in the area that they believe may be connected to the man.
Woods was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges of burglary, trespassing and theft.
He remains in custody on a $2,500 bond.
