Shell casings littered an Ahwatukee parking lot by a park on Friday evening after shots were fired in the area.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, gunfire erupted at Western Star Park near 48th Street and Elliot Road. Officials say a man fired at least nine shots in the parking lot.

Police say one man fired at another man who was in a red Chevrolet. Police said the man who opened fire was in an SUV and had another individual with him. Both individuals fled the scene.
Mercedes Rodriguez was there for a play date with her daughter when she says they heard a stream of gunfire and a man on the tennis court yelled at everyone to get down.
"He said, 'Get down, those are gunshots,'" she said. "People got down, I took off to get my children and cover them."
Ten bullet casings were found right behind her car that she was just about to walk out to when the shooting started.
Susan Avery says she was in her backyard across from the park when they heard tires squealing and several gun shots. She told her son and his friend to hit the deck.
"Of course I told the kids to get down, I knew it was gun fire, so we came in and got on the floor and when we looked up we noticed a hole in the ceiling where a bullet had come through," she said.
She says police think the bullet fell through the roof rather than through her patio door, which had been open at the time.
No injuries were reported, and police continue to investigate the incident.
