The Phoenix Fire Department reports its firefighters were able to save a dog from an apartment fire on Monday.

Captain Aaron Ernsberger said crews responded to an apartment complex on 48th Street south of Ray Road after a neighbor heard another unit's fire alarm and called 911.

Firefighters found the dog in the unit with a active fire in the kitchen area, said Ernsberger. The fire was put out and the damage was contained to the kitchen, he said.

In a video shared by Phoenix Fire, two firefighters can be seen petting and comforting the curious dog.

No one else was inside the apartment. The management company is helping the resident with temporary housing.

Guadalupe and Chandler fire departments assisted Phoenix Fire crews. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
