American Airlines has announced they will be moving the Phoenix Training Center to their training centers in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Fort Worth, Texas.

AA Vice President Captain Kimball Stone said the move is an effort to consolidate their pilot training facilities.

Stone said in a press release that the move would “provide a more consistent training experience for pilots.”

The merger of the training centers is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.

Stone emphasized that PHX will still be an important base and key part of the AA network.

Current training centers employees will be offered positions at the two remaining centers. Officials said 65 Phoenix employees will be affected by the move.
