PHOENIX — Apple Stores in Arizona remain closed and there is no confirmed time table for when those stores will reopen, a spokesperson for Apple told ABC15 on Monday morning.
However, in a letter to customers posted Sunday to Apple's website, Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's vice president of retail and people, said nearly 100 stores have reopened around the world and explained the changes that customers can expect when more stores do reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Our commitment is to only move forward with a reopening once we’re confident we can safely return to serving customers from our stores. We look at every available piece of data — including local cases, near and long‑term trends, and guidance from national and local health officials. These are not decisions we rush into — and a store opening in no way means that we won't take the preventative step of closing it again should local conditions warrant," O'Brien said in her letter.
"When a store in your area does take this step to reopen — which you can check up on using the Find a Store search tool — you’ll find the same helpful, dedicated teams that were there before we closed, but things may look and feel a little different. For one thing, you'll find yourself with plenty of space," she wrote.
Among them:
- Both employees and customers will be required to wear masks inside the store
- Masks will be provided to customers who do not bring one
- Temperature checks will be conducted for people entering the store
- Limited occupancy in store; more space between customers
- Enhanced cleaning throughout the day, specially on all surfaces, display products, and highly-trafficked areas
- Stores will also offer curbside pickup and drop off
Restaurant dining rooms, stores, pools, barbershops, hair salons, massage therapists, and casinos were all allowed to reopen within the last two weeks. Arizona's stay-at-home order expired on May 15.
