A woman injured while hiking Camelback Mountain is in serious but stable condition.
An afternoon update from Captain Aaron Ernsberger with the Phoenix Fire Department said firefighters were told she was rappelling with friends when she fell an undisclosed distance.
Firefighters from Scottsdale and Chandler also responded Tuesday morning and worked to get her off the mountain. She was airlifted to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
Authorities did not immediately know what caused the fall.
