A backyard tree fire escalated overnight when it downed several power lines, caused a gas leak and spread to a woman's Biltmore-area home.
Phoenix Fire Department responded to the home near 24th Street and Camelback Road around 1 a.m. Saturday where they found smoke and flames from a backyard.
The fire spread to part of the home, but firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to nearby homes.
The woman had working smoke alarms, so she was alerted of the blaze and was able to get out without injury.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire, but investigators are working at the scene.
