It’s official! Burton Barr Central Library is reopening its doors this weekend.

Library officials say the Phoenix library will open on Saturday, June 16 at 9 a.m.

In celebration of their reopening, they’ll offer a variety of free family-friendly programs throughout the day. Click here to check out their day-of schedule.

Among the library's repairs and improvements are an expanded children's area, two computer labs and a designated room for 3-D printing programs.

The library's roof has been replaced along with flooring, tabletops and the fire suppression system.

Burton Barr closed last July after a leaky roof led to a major flooding disaster inside. Since then, three city employees have been fired after a report revealed at least six employees may have known there was a corrosion issue

Phoenix fired the library's Security Systems Supervisor, the Electronic Systems Specialist in the Public Works Department and the Library Project Manager who is in charge of managing the building.

Burton Barr Central Library is located just south of Central Avenue and McDowell Road.
