PHOENIX — From Scottsdale to Hollywood to film festivals around the world, Charles Gabrean has made a business of taking pictures, celebrity pictures.
That includes at the Oscars and the Vanity Fair after party, an incredibly difficult event to access for anyone except Hollywood royalty.
Among his favorite images, a candid of Bob Newhart and Dave Chappelle roasting marshmallows together.
A former teacher, Gabrean got his start in Scottsdale when a still single George Clooney was out on a date.
He got the picture and sold it to People Magazine, and a new career was launched.
Besides being beautiful and having that "It Quality," one of the reasons stars photograph so well is that they know how to pose.
They know how their faces and bodies look best on camera. Eye contact he says makes for the most striking image and that's why celebrity photographers are often seen jockeying for the best position right in front of the stars on the red carpet.
