Terminal 3 at Phoenix Sky Harbor will officially be named the John S. McCain III Terminal.
The Phoenix City Council voted unanimously to approve the proposal on Wednesday morning.
Phoenix council members first voted to support the proposal on November 29.
Terminal 3 is in the middle of a $590 million renovation that includes a remodeled concourse, new shops, restaurants and energy efficient lighting.
I’m deeply humbled by @MayorStanton & @CityofPhoenixAZ's decision to designate Terminal 3 @PHXSkyHarbor in my name. I have rarely felt at once so honored & yet so unworthy of an honor as I do today. https://t.co/Rv6z2vwYZK

"Sky Harbor Airport is one of America's busiest airports and is a point of pride for Phoenicians. As such, there is no greater honor the city can bestow than to name one of its terminals after a community leader," added Councilman Jim Waring.
