Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department rescued eight cats from a house fire Monday morning.

Twenty firefighters were able to control a fire in the attic of the home near 18th Street and McDowell Road just before 2:30 a.m.

Fire officials say crews were able to locate and rescue eight cats from inside of the home. Firefighters did not have to use a Fido bag, rescue equipment used for cats and dogs, on any of the animals rescued.

There were no injuries reported to firefighters or homeowners.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
