A woman is dead after a serious crash along the light rail tracks in Phoenix early Sunday morning.
According to Phoenix police, the crash involving two vehicles occurred near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Police say a 42-year-old woman was headed southbound on 19th Avenue when she failed to stop for a red light signal, hitting another car.
Her vehicle rolled and hit a pole along the light rail tracks, blocking light rail service in the area.
The woman, identified as Irene Conger, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, a 61-year-old man, was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
Valley Metro tweeted that bus service has been called in to transport light rail passengers around the closure.
