PHOENIX — Mesa police are investigating a priest who is accused of sending inappropriate images to a minor, according to the Diocese of Phoenix.

A spokesperson for the Diocese says Fr. Timothy Seavey allegedly sent photos via a social media app to someone who identified as an adult on the network, but turned out to be a minor.

The diocese has removed Seavey’s faculties to minister as a priest. They are also reportedly cooperating with the Mesa police investigation into the incident.

Mesa police say they received a report on April 27 about a 17-year-old who received nude photographs from someone he recognized as Seavey, the chaplain for Seton Catholic Preparatory High School.

The teen said he wrote he was 18 years old on his own social media profile.

Police say there has not been an arrest and no charges have been filed. No other known investigations involve Seavey, police say.

The Diocese of Phoenix says Seavey served at Queen of Peace Parish since 2017 and as chaplain at Seton Catholic Preparatory since 2018.
