DPS: 2 arrested after chase on Interstate 17

Two suspected drug dealers are behind bars after leading authorities on a chase Tuesday night.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said the pursuit started in Pinal County when the US Border Patrol attempted to stop an SUV that was believed to be involved in drug smuggling along Interstate 8 near Vekol Road.

PCSO assisted Border Patrol when the vehicle did not stop. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on State Route 84 but due to dangerous driving conditions, it was unsuccessful.

The vehicle entered Casa Grande and continued onto Interstate 10 towards Phoenix. When the vehicle left Pinal County, deputies disengaged and the pursuit was picked up by DPS troopers.

DPS took three suspects into custody including a minor at a 7-Eleven near Interstate 17 and Indian School Road.

Two of the suspects, 19-year-old Marlon Guillen and 20-year-old Mario Balderrama were booked into jail. The third suspect is a minor was was turned over to his mother with charges pending.

During the pursuit, the suspects could be seen throwing drugs out of the car.

Troopers believe the suspects were selling drugs and tried to get rid of them during the chase.
