DPS raises $30,000 for Special Olympics Arizona

When most people think of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, they think of the officers who help keep our highways safe. 

Recently though, DPS members gave back to the community in a different way.

The numbers from last week's "BBQ for Champions" are in. The annual charity event, attended by DPS employees as well as the general public benefits Special Olympics Arizona. This year the barbecue pulled in nearly $30,000. That money will help some truly gifted athletes show their skills.

Eight hundred people attended this year's "BBQ for Champions." They brought their appetite, wolfing down a combined 200-plus pounds of barbecue.
