A deadly two-vehicle crash overnight caused a closure of Loop 202 near downtown Phoenix early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred in the HOV lane around 2:30 a.m. on eastbound L-202 near 44th Street.
DPS Trooper Richard Bottoms says the Jeep was stopped in the lane with no lights on when a semi truck collided with it.
The Jeep caught fire after the crash and the driver, a man, was killed.
The semi truck driver was not injured in the crash, according to Trooper Bottoms.
All eastbound traffic was diverted to SR-143 for several hours, but eastbound lanes reopened after 9 a.m.
