MESA, AZ — Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren has canceled her planned town hall event in Mesa this weekend following a Thursday announcement that she was dropping out of the presidential race.
Warren's town hall was scheduled to be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mesa Amphitheater.
Warren called it quits two days after a disappointing showing on Super Tuesday, according to the New York Times and CNN.
"I want to start with the news. I want all of you to hear it first, and I want you to hear it straight from me: Today, I’m suspending our campaign for president," Warren said, according to a transcript of a call she had with her staffers that was published by the campaign on Medium.
Warren picked up 65 delegates throughout the Democratic primary process, but she trails frontrunners Joe Biden (596) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (531) by hundreds of delegates.
Warren told reporters in a press conference at her home Thursday that she will "take some time" before she makes an endorsement.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is also vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, will hold a rally on Thursday at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Two weeks ago, President Donald Trump flew to Arizona where he held his own rally at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
On March 15, CNN and Univision will host the 11th Democratic debate at Arizona Federal Theatre in downtown Phoenix.
Two days later, Arizona Democrats will cast their votes in the state's Presidential Preference Election, or primary.
