PHOENIX — The Budweiser Clydesdales are in the Valley this week, making appearances at several different events.
On Saturday, they wowed fans at Turf Paradise in Phoenix with a photo opportunity, then a performance on the main track after the second race.
"This is the first time in more than decade we've had them at Turf Paradise," said Mike Scerbo, Turf Paradise Marketing Director.
There are several hitches that travel around the country, making appearances in parades and commercials. Each one travels with a whole crew of workers.
Doug Bousselot, the lead supervisor for the Clydesdales, said most people are interested in knowing their size.
The lightest of the bunch in Phoenix this week? A whopping 1,900 pounds.
"The horses are groomed everyday so everything is first class," Bousselot said.
"I think people are impressed by the overall appearance of everything."
Bousselot said he often sees several generations of families come out to their events. Grandparents and parents bringing kids, reminiscing about seeing the famous horses as kids themselves. And the horses aren’t the only celebrities.
Two Dalmatians also accompany them.
One of the dogs, April, was in this year's Super Bowl commercial.
