PHOENIX, AZ — Five people are looking for a new place to stay after a first-alarm apartment fire Sunday.

The blaze broke out around 12:30 p.m. at an apartment complex near 26th Place and Oak Street in Phoenix.

Firefighters tell ABC15, when crews arrived on scene, they found a large fire burning in an apartment on the first floor. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to the lower level apartment and one upstairs.

Officials say an adult man was home when the fire broke out but was able to escape without injury. A family of four living in the upstairs apartment were also able to get out safely.

Phoenix fire crisis teams and the Red Cross are working with displaced families to help them find a new place to stay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
