PHOENIX — A 6-year-old boy has been transported to the hospital after a near-drowning near 7th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard Saturday night.

Phoenix fire crews say the boy hit his head and went underwater for about 45 seconds.

When crews arrived on scene, they say the boy was out of the water and moaning.

Crews then transported him to a pediatric hospital for further evaluation.

The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

This is the second drowning call Saturday. Earlier in the day, crews responded to 48th Street and Ray Road for near-drowning involving a 4-year-old boy.
