FD: 5 displaced after Phoenix apartment fire

Five people have been displaced after an apartment fire in Phoenix.

The fire started around 3:00 a.m. at 32nd Street and McDowell Road.

Phoenix fire responded with 30 to 40 firefighters after smoke was reported to be coming from vents and windows.

When firefighters arrived four apartments were on fire. One person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, another person was found on a second story balcony and was semi-conscious.

According to Phoenix fire, one side of the apartment complex is abandoned and the other side is rented out.

Phoenix fire said they have been called out to this apartment complex several times.

According to Phoenix fire, the transients use the apartment complex to build warming fires and the fires spread to other units.

The cause of this latest fire is under investigation.
